RSCs – Stimulating and Supporting Innovation in Learning
JISC Regional Support Centres have received additional funding from the LSC to support LSC funded Work Based Learning (WBL) and the JISC Regional Support Centre Northern has appointed a WBL Advisor, Brian Burr, to support LSC funded Work Based Learning Providers in the Northern region.
Work Based Learning in this context refers to those providers who deliver apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships, entry to employment and train to gain, three major programmes funded by the LSC for post 16 learners.
A variety of organisations are contracted with the LSC to deliver these programmes including private providers, voluntary organisations, and FE Colleges.
There are approximately 160 Work Based Learning Providers in the North East delivering the LSC funded programmes. The average Provider has between 251 & 500 LSC funded Learners, while 26% Providers have less than 100 LSC funded Learners.
