About RSC Northern

Brief background

The JISC Regional Support Centre (RSC) Northern was established in May 2000 to support innovation in learning to identified learning providers. The University of Sunderland is the lead institution for RSC Northern and we are based at:

There are 12 other JISC Regional Support Centres in the UK. They are based throughout the UK to support innovation in learning in their regions.

RSCs enable you to access a wide range of services by working closely with other RSCs, with JISC and other regional and national agencies and partners.

Who we support:

RSC Northern works with the 21 colleges, 4 specialist colleges and 12 LEA Adult and Community Learning (ACL) providers in the north east of England. It also supports the provision of Higher Education in FE Colleges.  A recent addition to the supported sectors is Work Based Learning.

What we support:

AccessApps;  Accessibility and Inclusion; Adult and Community Learning, E-Progress Review; HE in FE, Learning Platforms, Learning Resources; Quality Managers; Senior Managers; Staff Development; Technical Infrastructure Advice and Guidance; Technology and Work Based Learning.

RSC Northern has 9 Forum groups who meet on a regular basis:

  5. Moodle User.
  6. Specialist College.
  7. Staff Development.
  8. Technical.
  9. Work Based Learning.
